A dedication ceremony will be held from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at the hall, 51 McInnes Road.
Meditz is also a trustee of the university, and resides in Weehawken, N.J. He gifted $10 million to the university, which will be used to expand and update the Leslie C. Quick Jr. Recreation Complex. He has made several other major contributions to help with projects such as the Bellamine Museum of Art, endowment of the museum’s directorship and creation of additional scholarships for endowed students.
Meditz plans to attend the dedication, along with Fairfield University President the Rev. Jeffrey von Arx and Fairfield University Student Association President Alexander Cuchi, Class of 2015.
The residence hall houses nearly 200 juniors and seniors, and has been known simply as 51 McInnes Road since it was opened in 2011. It holds apartments for four, six or eight people, each with double bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a dining area, along with one or two bathrooms. There are also many common gathering areas in the building.
For those who wish to attend the dedication, the best way to access McInnes Road is via the Barlow Road entrance. Simply bear right on McInnes, go past the Quick Center for the Arts and look for parking across the street from the main entrance of the Quick Center.
