Philo allows users to watch live TV on a range of devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones and traditional TV sets through Roku or AirPlay via an approved Apple device.

Students have the ability to pause and rewind live TV as well as 20 hours of DVR space. SHU campus residents can also access Philo anywhere on campus through the university network.

“Having Philo on campus sets SHU as a front-runner among schools," Saburo Usami, SHU’s director of In-Plant Graphics, Postal Services & Telecom, said in a statement. "Only a handful of other campuses have it; we do not charge any additional fees for service; and we offer 40 channels, including New England Sports Network and YES Network, for both Sox and pinstripe fans.”

Philo is offered as an amenity to all SHU on-campus residents and included in their housing fees.
