Fairfield's Sacred Heart University To Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Talk

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Sacred Heart University in Fairfield will present a 50th anniversary lecture on its founding on Monday.

The lecture, called "Bishop Curtis and Beyond: Sacred Heart and the Catholic University of the Next 50 Years," will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Schine Auditorium at Sacred Heart University.

Michael Higgins, vice president for Mission and Catholic Identity, will present the lecture about the Most Rev. Walter. W Curtis' vision for Sacred Heart since its inception in 1963, according to a press release from Sacred Heart University.

The Office of Mission and Catholic Identity will sponsor the event, which is free and open to the public.

Sacred Heart University is the second-largest independent Catholic university in New England and offers more than 50 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs on its main campus in Fairfield and satellites in Connecticut, Luxembourg and Ireland. More than 6,400 students attend the university’s five colleges.
