Soldier's Surprise Visit Shocks Sister At Sacred Heart Hockey Game

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Sacred Heart hockey player Teagan Ketchum will never forget Saturday's game against Franklin Pierce. And it has nothing to do with the Pioneers' game in the New England Hockey Conference semifinals.

Family members surprised Ketchum, a senior from Averill Park, N.Y., with a visit from her brother, Trevor, a Petty Officer Second Class in the U.S. Navy. The siblings had not seen each other in 14 months. The team hosted a Military Appreciation game several weeks ago and Teagan was devastated that her brother was unable to attend the game.

The family arranged a flight home for Trevor to be present for the Pioneers NEHC Tournament Game on Saturday versus St. Anselm. Following the national anthem, Trevor dropped the puck at a ceremonial faceoff, with Teagan taking the faceoff for the Pioneers.

St. Anselm's went on to a 5-1 win in the semifinal game. Sacred Heart concluded its season with a tie against Franklin Pierce in Sunday's consolation round, and the Pioneers finished the season 18-9-2.
