Southern Fairfield County Ranks Among Most Educated Areas In America

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk area was ranked the ninth-most educated metropolitan area in the country, according to a recent report by 24/7 Wall St. 

The Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk area, home to a branch of the University of Connecticut, was rated one of the most-educated areas in the country.

24/7 Wall St. compiled data based on key metrics, including percentage adults 25 and older with a bachelor's degree, median income, poverty and crime data and population estimates. 

The Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk area boasted the second highest median income of the cities surveyed at $82,084 and the third highest median earnings for residents with a bachelor's degree at $67,061.

The most educated city in the U.S. was Boulder, Colo., followed by Ann Arbor, Mich.; Corvallis, Ore.; Ithaca, N.Y.; and Lawrence, Kan., to round out the Top 5.
