FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield's Sacred Heart University has announced the addition of two members with ties to the Stamford business community to its Board of Trustees.
The new trustees are Daniel J. McCarthy, president and chief operating officer of Frontier Communications Corp., headquartered in Stamford, and Thomas L. Rich, president and chief executive officer of the F.D. Rich Co.
Rich, a Stamford native, is also president of the Rich Foundation, which supports many community arts, education, health care and social service organizations in the city.
He previously served as president of the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford and as a board member for the Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care of Southwestern Connecticut.
He has also been a board member of Stamford Center for the Arts and Stamford Theatre Works and as an advisory board member of the Stamford Youth Foundation.
The F. D. Rich Co. is a multi-generational real estate development company founded in Stamford more than a century ago.
McCarthy has been Frontier's president and COO since April 2012 and was executive vice president and COO from 2006 to 2012.
He headed field operations in 2005 and was senior vice president of broadband operations in 2004. Before that, he served as president and chief operating officer of Electric Lightwave, a national fiber-optic carrier and former Frontier subsidiary.
Frontier offers broadband, voice, satellite video, wireless Internet data access, data security solutions and more for businesses, home offices and residential customers in 27 states.
