The finalists are Athos K. Brewer, vice president for student affairs at Bronx Community College of the City of New York; Paul Brodie II, vice president for student services at Orange County Community College, a member of the State University of New York; and Matthew Reed, vice president for academic affairs at Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts.

“We are extremely pleased with the caliber of the candidates who applied for the position, and especially with that of the three finalists,” said Nick Donofrio, chairman of the Board of Regents. “These finalists represent the very best in higher education at this time, as evidenced by the experience and accomplishments that comprise their impressive careers to date.”

Reed visited the Housatonic Community College campus on Dec. 1. Broadie will visit on Dec. 2, and Brewer will visit Dec. 3.

During their visits to Bridgeport, the candidates will participate in various meetings and events with faculty, students, staff and community stakeholders.

The search for a new president began after Anita Gliniecki announced in February that she was retiring in September. At its June 2014 meeting, the Board of Regents for Higher Education appointed Elizabeth Roop as its interim president through Dec. 31.

The presidential search has been conducted by the Regents Search Committee, with the assistance of the College Advisory Committee. Following the finalists’ visits, the Advisory Committee will provide its unranked feedback to the Regents Search Committee.

The Regents Search Committee, comprised of six members of the Board of Regents for Higher Education, will make their final selection, subject to ratification by the full Board of Regents, at the Dec. 18 meeting.
