Watch Fairfield Students' Battle of the Brains

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two groups of Fairfield high school students get to show off their knowledge on the airwaves Tuesday night. Fairfield Ludlowe and Fairfield Warde High Schools’ teams faced off in MSG Varsity’s “The Challenge” last month. The battle airs Tuesday night on the local cable channel.

"The Challenge" is a quiz show for high school students in Cablevision’s coverage area. Teams of four answer high-school level questions on history, arts, literature, current events, math and science in front of a live studio audience. The top team in the tri-state area could win $10,000 for its school, plus a $500 bonus for each team member.

The Falcons this year are represented by captain Olivia Morrison, Amanda Brenner, Gregory Convertito, Derek Chu and alternate Karen Chu. They are led by academic advisors John Antonello and Courtenay Trahan.

The Mustangs’ team consists of captain Kei Nishimura-Gasparian, Frederic Chasin, Daniel Shur, Xander Gershberg and alternate Robert Callahan. Their academic advisor is Bob Mendenhall.

The competition between the two schools is already finished. But Tuesday night is the battle’s first airing on MSG Varsity. You can see the Falcons take on the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night on Cablevision/iO Channel 14.
