2 Fairfield Youth Football Teams Reach League Semis

FAIRFIELD, Conn. –  Two Fairfield Wildcats teams have reached the semifinals of the Fairfield County Football League playoffs. They play in the semifinals on Wednesday at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

The seventh-grade Wildcats defeated Westport, 15-0. Fairfield meets Wilton in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. The sixth-grade team defeated New Canaan, 8-6. Fairfield kicks off against Darien at 6 p.m. in the semis.

The seventh-graders posted their fifth shutout of the season against Westport, and did not allow a first down. Josh Evans and Jack Curtis tackled a Westport runner in the end zone for a safety for Fairfield’s first points.

Matthew Cerminaro and Timmy Jacobi had touchdown runs, while Clay Zachery returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. Jack Curtis added a conversion. Ben Foster, Colin Browne, Sam Hawley, Olle Kooiman, Matt Coda, T.J. Grace and Joey Turner were other Fairfield standouts.

Brian Howell ran 35 yards for a touchdown and ran for the conversion to lead the sixth-grade team. Fairfield also needed a goal line stand to seal the win. Kevin Quinn, Brendan Larson, Will Stearn, Jesse Lawson, Justin Coudert, Griffin Forberg, Jaden Sneed, Danny Russel, P.J. Egan and Sean Fuller were other Fairfield standouts.

The fourth-grade team was eliminated by New Canaan, 20-0. Jimmy Cullinan, Brendan Howard, Jack Morison, Lorenzo Cooper, Jack McKenna, Jack Gremse, Will Smalley, Harry Chandler and Ryan McIntosh led Fairfield.
