Fairfield Prep Falls To 9th In MaxPreps Football Rankings

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Darien jumped up to No. 2 and New Canaan fell to No. 3 in the latest state rankings by MaxPreps.

Southington moved into the No. 1 spot. Darien climbed four spots with a 21-17 win over previously unbeaten St. Joseph, which had been ranked No. 2. The Rams, who were previously the state’s top-ranked team by MaxPreps, fell two spots despite a 35-14 win over Fairfield Warde.

Fairfield Prep (3-1) fell five spots to ninth despite its 41-0 win over Branford.

The big mover among Fairfield County teams was Stamford High (3-1), which climbed nine spots to 29th with a 37-34 upset of Staples.
