FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The boys on the Fairfield American team will continue their storied summer as they take the field Sunday morning for their second game in the Little League World Series.
The game is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pa. Fairfield American, the New England champions, will take on the team from Lufkin, Texas, the Southwest champions.
The game will be televised and streamlined online on ESPN.
Fairfield American made it to the second round of the World Series by edging New Jersey, 7-6, in the opening game on Thursday.
The Fairfield team clinched the New England championship with a stunning 10-0 win over Maine. That win sent Fairfield to Williamsport, Pa., for the third time in history, a Connecticut first.
At 18-0, Fairfield American was undefeated in tournament play in Connecticut this season leading up to the Little League World Series.
In the early days of the tournament, the teams compete round robin within their pool of four teams. The top two teams from each pool advance to the semifinals. Winners in that round go to the United States or International finals, whose winners go on to the championship game.
