The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7,  at the Recreation and Tennis Center at 210 Old Dam Road at the corner of South Pine Creek Road, First Selectman Mike Tetreau said.

The Fairfield Recreation and Tennis Center illustrates the wonderful concept of a public/private partnership, Tetreau said.

The Fairfield Indoor Tennis Center, which was located on Old Dam Road, partnered with the town to build a new facility at this site that will provide the community with a first-class tennis center, as well as recreational space that will be home to new programming for children, teens and adults.

“This is a win-win situation. This new facility is a wonderful addition to the existing Parks and Recreation Department on Mill Plain Road. I thank the Fairfield Indoor Tennis Center for building this wonderful facility that everyone in our community can enjoy,” Parks and Recreation Director Gerry Lombardo said.

The facility can host children's parties; sweet 16 parties; preschool, after-school, and teen programs; fitness classes and much more. The facility also includes a new and improved teen center, The Beanery, which provides a safe and fun environment for Fairfield’s youth.

The Fairfield Tennis Center will manage the tennis facility for the next 20 years.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a Family Fun Dance will begin at 6 p.m.

The Family Fun Dance is sponsored by the Town Youth Council and the Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department.

Reservations for the dance are required, and space is limited. Call the Recreation Department at 203-256-3191 to reserve your family’s spot.

A $3 per person donation will be collected at the door to benefit a Town Youth Council fundraiser, The Jacky Durrell Memorial Service Award.

Each year, the Parks and Recreation Department awards two, $1,000.00 scholarships to Fairfield high school graduates for their community service accomplishments.

DJ, Marvin Parsons and the Town Youth Council will get your family up and dancing. The Town Youth Council will be selling light snacks or residents can bring their own dinner.
