Fairfield competed in the Pee Wee Level 1 division. A team from Metuchen, N.J., won the competition. The girls, ages 9-12, are the second team in the 46-year history of the Giants to compete for a national title. They won Southern Connecticut, state and New England  Pop Warner titles to earn a trip to the national contest.

"I am so very proud of the girls. They did an amazing job competing and all season,’’ said Michele Scholz, Fairfield Giants Pop Warner cheer coordinator. “All of the girls were very excited to place in the top five for their first trip to nationals and only Fairfield Pop Warner's second trip for cheer in 46 years. This was an experience these girls will always remember, and we all had a wonderful time enjoying every moment."

The team is comprised of Haley Sepot, JoAnna Moomjian, Jillian Hetherman, Michaela Murdock, Teddie Tarczali, Samantha Epperson, Juliana Scholz, Gianna Pulito, Hannah Landesberg and Cassie Llewellyn. Emma Pippert and Mackenzie Tarczali are student coaches.
