Fairfield Giants Open Youth Football Season

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Giants Junior Pee Wee 2 team edged the Woodland Hawks, 12-6, to kick off the season in the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner youth football season.

Nick Morris’ 15-yard touchdown pass to Finn Donelan produced the first touchdown for the Giants. Michael Innaimo scored on a 15-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to snap a 6-6 tie for Fairfield.

Other standouts included Peter Strang, Tommy O’Connell, Brendan Dunleavy, Max Spies, Owen Miller, Josh Pastore, Alex Joliet, Charlie Wilcox, Calvin Caione and Gavin Toth.

The Giants Mighty Mites Junior team defeated the Woodland Hawks, 30-6, in its opener. Ryan O’Connell’s 40-yard burst gave the Giants their first touchdown. Cooper Anderson, R.J. Ihlefeld, Tom Kramer and Ronin O’Donnell also scored. Anthony Faletta made a terrific strip and fumble recovery to end the game. Other standouts included Joe Delia, Tim Walton, Sean Donohue, Greg Coghlan, Jake Neff, L.J. Coleman and Zack Hathaway.

In other games, Stratford defeated the Junior Pee Wee 1 team, 19-0; the Pee Wees topped Stratford, 14-8; and the Junior Midgets fell to Stratford, 40-8.
