FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Ludlowe High School won the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class LL championship this weekend.
The Falcons cheerleaders topped the Class LL open competition in New Haven on Sunday with a score of 174.8, edging runner-up Newtown by 4.6 points. Fairfield Warde’s team also placed fifth in the 21-team division.
Sunday's win marked the first time in school history the Falcons have won the state title. Ludlowe had been the Class LL runner-ups the last two years, finishing second to Danbury in 2011 and to Masuk in 2012. The Falcons also placed third in 2010.
Sunday’s win capped off a season in which the Falcons won their second straight Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference team championship and an FCAIC partner-stunt competition, according the conference website.
