Stamford's Kevin Stone, a pitcher, will attend Harvard University, while Simon Whiteman of Trumbull will play at Yale.

Stone will become the first baseball player at Prep to earn a letter for all four years in more than a decade at Prep. He was the first non-senior in Prep baseball history to be named to the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association (CHSCA) All State Team. He represented Prep in the CHSCA Junior All Star game, and was named Connecticut MVP.

Stone went 6-1 last year for Prep with a 2.48 ERA, helping the Jesuits post an 18-5 record. Prep lost in the second round of the state tournament to eventual Class LL champion Amity.

Stone was a standout for several North Stamford Little League All-Star teams before moving on to Prep.

“Kevin makes those around him better,'' coach Rudy Mauritz said.

In addition to his baseball accomplishments, Stone has served as a Peer Tutor and works with children at a local community center.

Whiteman is a three-sport standout at Prep, where he also runs indoor track and plays soccer. He was an All-league selection last year, when he hit .403 and scored 18 runs.

Whiteman was recognized as a National Merit Commended student and is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Harvard Club Book Award. He has served in student government and in Prep’s Campus Ministry program and is also a Peer Tutor.
