FAIRFIELD, Conn. – You could tell the runner on the Virginia team was Fairfield native Connor Rog by his signature headband. And his fleet feet.
Rog had a terrific debut with the University of Virginia cross country team, finishing 17th in the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational last Saturday.
Competing against several nationally-ranked schools, Rog finished in 24:38.6 on the 8-kilometer (4.97 mile) course. Rog was Virginia’s fourth finisher as the Cavaliers finished third behind nationally ranked Oklahoma (40 points) and Arkansas (61). Rog, who ran at Fairfield Prep, was also the fastest true freshman in the field.
Virginia is ranked 27th in a national poll released Tuesday.
