Fairfield Softball Captures State Junior Division Title

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Little League Girls Softball All-Stars won the Connecticut Little League Juniors state championship Sunday, shutting out Ledyard, 2-0, in Orange.

Kylee Holderied pitched her second complete game shutout against Ledyard, winning her fourth game of the tournament.

Sophie Sancho and Elizabeth Doolan each drove in a run, with Sancho turning a terrific double play to shut down a seventh-inning Ledyard rally.

Fairfield went undefeated in the state tournament and now advances to the Eastern Regionals, which begin Friday in Orange.
