Fairfield has had a 6-2 burst, after a bumpy 0-3 start. The Stags are above the .500 mark for the first time this season, at 6-5.

Fairfield will face Manhattan -- MAAC rival and last year’s conference champion -- on Saturday night. The Stags come into the game with a two-game win streak and some notable statistics. Their last game featured a season-high 25 points from sophomore Tyler Nelson (13.6 ppg) and an all-time record-tying 17 three-pointers for the team, as the Stags beat Bucknell 101-91 on Dec. 27.

The Jaspers had also won two in a row, until they fell to Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday.

Last year, the Stags lost seven games by one or two points, including three in overtime. This time around, the team is taking close games, including two contests that went into overtime.
