Fairfield University's Cherebin Gives Olympics A Stags Flair

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Incoming Fairfield University freshman swimmer Ore Cherebin of St. George, Grenada, will represent her country in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The future Stag amphibian will make her Olympic debut after competing for Grenada at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, the FINA World Championships in 2013 and 2015 and the 2015 Pan American Games.

Cherebin will be competing in the 100m butterfly and 100m breaststroke when the Olympics get under way on Aug. 5.

“Being an Olympian is a huge honor, and means more than words can describe,” she said. “I almost can't believe it. It's a dream come true to be able to be part of team Grenada in Rio.”
