Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe Hockey Wins Championship On Penalty Shot

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Kevin Robinson scored four goals, with the game-winner in an overtime penalty shot, to lead the Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe hockey team over East Catholic, 4-3, to win the Division 2 state championship Wednesday night at Ingalls Rink in New Haven.

The penalty shot came with 5:18 left in overtime, according to the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference's website and Twitter.

With the score tied at 3-3 at the very end of the game, Warde/Ludlowe fans cheered what they thought was a buzzer-beating goal by Tom Kryspin. But officials disallowed the goal, ruling that it came after time had ended, forcing the overtime in the state championship game.
