Fairfield defeated Marist in four sets (26-24, 25-19, 19-25, 25-23) to win the title and go into the NCAA tournament with a 21-9 record and on a 12-match winning streak.

The Stags rallied from a 21-16 deficit in the fourth set to clinch the title.

Theiller contributed a double-double (22 kills, 11 digs) to the Fairfield effort, and was aided by Skyler Day (11 kills, 15 digs) and Megan O’Sullivan (14 kills, 7 digs), who joined her on the All-Tournament team.

Head Coach Todd Kress, named the MAAC Coach of the Year earlier this week, was justifiably proud.

"At the beginning of October, people questioned if we would even qualify for the postseason, and here we are seven weeks later as MAAC champions," Kress said. "The entire season, this group has had championship potential. But today, they combined that potential with an unbelievable amount of heart and fight to accomplish their ultimate goal."

This was Marist's third straight loss in the MAAC title game.

The 64-team NCAA tournament field will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 9 p.m.
