FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Bill Mazzucco will be the next head baseball coach at Fairfield’s Notre Dame High School, the school announced Tuesday.

Mazzucco has been a Lancers’ assistant coach for the past 10 years. He was also a member of the team as a student at the school he graduated from in 1990.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to coach at Notre Dame and share my experiences and traditions as a student and a coach,” Mazzucco said in a press release. “I am very much looking forward to building the program for a new generation of Notre Dame students.”

Mazzucco will replace Paul Fabbri, who left to coach Ridgefield High last year after 14 years at Notre Dame. Fellow assistant Bob Sorrentino will stay on Mazzucco’s staff as an assistant and pitching coach.

"Bill and Bob have been part of the winning tradition of Lancer baseball for years and I look forward to their part in continuing it,” Notre Dame President the Rev. Bill Sangiovanni said in a press release. “I could not be happier with the choice"
