Marcus Gilbert's 32 Points Leads Fairfield U. To Big Victory

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team won its second game of the season with senior Marcus Gilbert scoring a career high 32 points.

The team's 113 total points in the 113-74 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore is also the highest in head coach Sydney Johnson's career. 

The win cam Tuesday Nov. 24, at the William P Hytche Athletic Center in Princess Anne, Md. 

Gilbert's scoring included five 3-pointers. 

Sophomore Tyler Nelsons scored 20 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Rookie Jerry Johnson Jr. had 19 points. The victory lifted the Stags record to 2-3 with a two-game win streak following the 0-3 start. 

Fairfield's previous scoring high during Johnson's regime as head coach was 85 points. 

The Stag will try to reach the .500 mark Friday, Nov. 27, when hosting Columbia at Alumni Hall at 5 p.m.
