Notre Dame Fairfield Names New Director Of Athletic Advancement

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The athletic director at St. Joseph High School in Trumbull will leave his post to become the new director of athletic advancement at Notre Dame-Fairfield High School, according to a press release.

Jim Olayos, who has served as St. Joseph's athletic director since 2002, will work with Rob Bleggi, Notre Dame's athletic director, to grow and expand the Notre Dame athletics program as well as raise funds for the school and Lancer athletics.

Both Bleggi and Olayos will work with Notre Dame's education partner, Sacred Heart University, "to continue to develop a beneficial relationship for both institutions," the statement read.

"I am excited about the opportunity given to me by Notre Dame," Olayos said in the statement. "I look forward to working with [school president] Father Bill [Sangiovanni], [school principal] Chris Cipriano and Rob Bleggi in a collaborative effort to enhance every aspect of the Notre Dame student's high school experience. Partnering with Sacred Heard University is very exciting and should bring immediate positive results for the school and athletic program."

Olayos's hiring comes as a part of Notre Dame's Strategic Plan, Notre Dame 2016: Aspire and Achieve, which includes expansion of the athletic program and improvement of the school's athletic fields.

"I look forward to working with Jim and him  being a part of the ND family," Bleggi said in the statement. "His experience and knowledge will be an asset to both the  advancement and athletics departments as well as the school in general."
