NBC's handling of the five-hour time difference with London and the choice to show major events on a tape delay hours after much of the world already knows the outcome thanks to the Internet has caused an uproar among many fans.

Twitter users have been especially vocal in their complaints of NBC, using the social media outlet to lash out against the network.

Guy Adams, a Los Angeles-based journalist for the Independent, a British newspaper, had his Twitter account briefly disabled after a series of increasingly critical remarks directed at NBC president Gary Zenkel. Adams' account was re-activated after a brief time.

A slew of Twitter hashtags and handles have ridiculed NBC's coverage throughout the games. #NBCFail has trended nationally at some point every day of the Olympics. The account @NBCDelayed has gained nearly 30,000 followers in the three days since it was created thanks to some humorous pokes at the now-infamous tape delays.

nbc should be embarrased for not presenting real time coverage.....

EagleEye:

What bugs me about the NBC coverage in the evenings is that it mostly focuses on all the exploits and outcomes of the USA team. Yes, we all love to watch their performances, both good and bad, but I'd really like to watch gold medal presentations (and hear the accompanying national anthems) for successful athletes from other countries. They deserve our respect and admiration too!

It's really sad that NBC treats the Olympics as entertainment and not breaking news. It's near impossible to stay away from breaking news these days, and NBC has been playing up the sob stories, flooding us with commercials and even creatively editing their delayed prime time coverage to create a false narrative (example: http://deadspin.com/5930817/the-us-already-had-gold-locked-up-after-this-floor-disaster-from-russias-world-champion-so-nbc-didnt-show-it-to-you). I hear they are planning the same for 2016 but I hope to god they change their minds, it really takes the fun out of watching these events.
