The team with the highest payroll in Major League Baseball could not mount any significant offense as stars Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson and Mark Texiera failed to produce at the plate. The loss of Derek Jeter to injury in Game 2 of the series added to the Yankees demise.

Critics are pointing to the Yankees' lack of hitting in important situations as the reason for the postseason failure. Others are placing the blame at the feet of general manager Brian Cashman and manager Joe Girardi for the makeup and management of the team.

First, thank you for a great season with over 90 games won. But, frankly I am a little embarrassed by the fans, all over the country you make us look like thugs. Don't get me wrong, I have booed. Maybe it is the astronomical prices we pay to go see them and not perform that does it? But the onus is all on the Yankees, they did not show up for the postseason. The opposing players had passion, they looked like they had the glee of a 12 year olds love for the game, while we had almost a nonchalant attitude when we struck out. I don't know, swallow, and wait till next year.

The TRUTH:

In the world of President Obama it was Joe Torre. Was he not the previous manager?

I blame Romney. Kidding...
I blame all the Yankees hitters. They all didn't hit. Yes A-Rod should hit more because of the money, but they have some guys on there that are also making good money and still didn't hit. And if you think about it, A-Rod was benched for two games and still no one hit. So he can't be blamed for losses the games he didn't play. Plan and simple, you need to blame the entire offense.
There will be some house cleaning next year but I don't think A-Rod will be one of them.

I've heard less whining from Cubs' fans.

bornagain:

The Yankees have won so often and spend so much money on players that they are expected to win every year. But good pitching wins series.. and the Tigers were just a bit better. They do need to makes some changes. Look for pitching first and a couple of young hitters.

WPEyesNEars:

I blame the sports writers. You've hyped the teams, the players, the game so much that they are all scrutinized to unreachable standards. Maybe next year?

caveng97:

You forgot one important factor. Who's to blame? The Detroit Tigers, especially the pitching staff.

fedupinny:

but you can't blame it all on A-Rod although I don't disagree with you. Look at the stats for Cano, Granderson and Swisher as well....what an epic bust.

HARDNOKS1957:

A-ROD,OR A CHOKE (a more fitting name) has been the biggest waste of money in the history of the YANKEES!Dump the bum.
