Heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday led to two straight days of postponements for the Fairfield Little League teams playing in the baseball and softball district tournaments.
At the 12-year-old baseball level, Fairfield American's game against Monroe was moved from 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to 5:30 p.m Thursday at Blackham Field in Bridgeport. The Fairfield National team will play Westport American at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, moved from the same time Wednesday, also at Blackham Field. Both games were originally set for Tuesday afternoon.
The Fairfield American team is 1-0 in the tournament, after defeating Westport. The Fairfield National squad is facing elimination, needing a win over Westport to move into a final game against the loser of the Fairfield American/Monroe game for a chance to advance into the finals.
Fairfield 14-year-old softball's game against Black Rock will now be played on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Unity Field in Trumbull.
In 11-year-old baseball, Fairfield American is playing Westport National at 12 p.m. on Saturday in the Blue Division quarterfinals at Unity Field.
The 11-year-old softball squad will face Black Rock at 5:30 p.m. at Unity Field.
