Rebecca Lobo Presents Fairfield Girls Hoops Clinic To Combat Cancer

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Rebecca Lobo excelled on defense during her time as a hall of fame basketball player. These days, the former UConn legend is looking to teach the girls of Fairfield not only how to battle on the court, but how to fight cancer off it, as well.

UConn star Rebecca Lobo will host a basketball clinic for girls in 6-9 grades on Aug. 9 at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

The former Huskies and New York Liberty star will lead a basketball clinic for girls entering 6-9 grades from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 9 at Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Ave., Fairfield. In addition to working with the players on honing their skills through various drills, Lobo will also auction off a one-hour private lesson.

All funds from the clinic benefit the Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer.

Since its inception 28 years ago, the CSF has granted more than $4 million in financial assistance directly to more than 4,000 Connecticut families struggling with financial hardships due to their conditions. The 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization has also donated an additional $1.7 million to support cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
