Registration Opens For Stamford KIC It Triathlon

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Registration has opened for the Navigators Stamford KIC It Triathlon, including Sprint and Olympic distances, a kids race and new this year -- 5k and 10k runs.

Registration has opened for the Stamford KIC It Triathlon in June. There is a kids race as part of the event, and a 5k and 10k run have been added this year.

The Olympic Distance  and Sprint Distance Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 28. The Kids Triathlon will be run on Saturday, June 27. The new 5k and 10k will also be held on Sunday.

The triathlon for kids ages 6 to 13 starts the weekend. The race added the Sprint distance event last year. It consists of half-mile swim, a 13.9-mile bike and a 3.2-mile run. The Olympic distance event is a 0.9-mile swim, 24.8-mile bike and 6.2-mile run.

The swim begins at Cummings Beach. The races roll through North Stamford and finish downtown.

After all the races, athletes and others can enjoy the Family Festival, complete with music, entertainment, food and more.

The races raise money for Kids in Crisis of Cos Cob, the area?s only temporary emergency shelter and counseling center for families and children of all ages.
