Runners will take off from the starting line Sunday in the third race of the Boston Buildup winter running series at the Southport Railroad Station. The 20-kilometer run begins at 9 a.m.

Norwalk's Julie Heaphy has gotten off to a terrific start in the first two races of the series with back-to-back victories in the 10K and 15K. She has a commanding lead in the overall race for the women's title.

Eneas Freyre, also of Norwalk, leads the men's series. He finished third in the first two races.

The 15K was delayed one week because of cold weather. The race was held Jan. 30, and snow and ice covered some sections of the difficult course in Ridgefield. There were 282 finishers in the race, the second highest total in the 33-year history of the series.

Runners for Sunday's race should be aware that parking is limited. Only multioccupant cars will be permitted to park at the train station in Southport. For complete race details and registration information, visit the Boston Buildup website.
