WILTON, Conn. -- The play was as crisp and clean as the autumn air this past Sunday as Wilton White and battled Fairfield to a 1-1 draw in an entertaining and closely fought match.
At the 20-minute mark, Alexis Castaldi just missed recording White's first tally as she hit the right post after a frenzied scramble in front as attackers Brielle Flavin and Victoria Fox continually pressured the Fairfield zone.
Marygrace DelliSanti started in goal for Wilton and played well, denying all but one of Fairfield's shots. Trailing 1-0 at the break, Wilton came out for the second half with renewed enthusiasm and DelliSanti netted the equalizer midway through with a strong boot from the left top of the box.
Some late-game pressures and rushes from Wilton's Mairead Kehoe and Peyton Gildersleeve along with several precisely placed corner kicks from Catalina King provided last gasp excitement, but Fairfield withstood the challenges resulting in the deadlocked final.
