Young Fairfield Football Teams Continue To Roll

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Wildcats seventh-grade football team defeated previously unbeaten Darien White while the sixth-grade team stayed undefeated in the Fairfield County Football League.

The seventh-grade Wildcats, the defending league champions, fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter. Fairfield answered with touchdown runs by Jack Curtis, Timmy Jacobi and Matthew Cerminaro.

The defense was led by Chris Nielsen, Joey Turner, Steven Ouellette, Josh Evans and Justin Keith. Clay Zachery recovered a fumble to set up Fairfield's first touchdown. Fairfield is 5-1, one game behind Wilton Blue. Fairfield lost to Wilton, 7-6, in the second week of the season.

The sixth-grade team beat Ridgefield, 14-8. Brian Howell ran for two scores for Fairfield, 6-0. David Summers moved the ball through the air, and was aided by having Aiden Wykoff and PJ Egan back in the lineup after being out for two weeks. Brendan Larson and Kevin Quinn ran the ball well for the Cats throughout the day. Joe Gjinaij, Jayden Sneed, Sean Fuller, Will Stearns, Jesse Lawson, Jack Bowden and Kyle Nagy all played roles in keeping Ridgefield out of the end zone until the last play of the game.

In other games, the fifth-grade Wildcats fell to Wilton White, 20-6. Joe Falletta, Massimo Perillo, Michael Graney and Mason Lake played well for Fairfield. Conner O'Neill scored on a 35-yard touchdown run.

The fourth-grade Wildcats topped New Canaan, 13-6, behind touchdowns from Andrew Conklin and Dylan Igram. Brendan Howard, Harry Chandler, Jake Fratarcangeli, and Lorenzo Cooper also played well on offense. Defensive leaders included Jack Gremse, Ryan McIntosh, Aidan Casey and Jack Morrison

The third-grade Wildcats beat Wilton, 18-12. Harrison Keith ran for two touchdowns and threw to Andre Mead for another to lead Fairfield. Jack Reilling, Casey Woodfine and Charlie Mitola also played well for the Wildcats.
