Tractor-Trailer Goes Down Embankment On I-95 In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Traffic was backed up for over 8 miles on I-95 northbound after a tractor-trailer accident in Fairfield early Friday afternoon, according to State Police and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Update: The crash scene was cleared at about 3:30 p.m. Friday.

A tractor-trailer went down an embankment between exits 20 and 21 on northbound I-95, DOT said. The right lane and shoulder were closed as crews worked to clear the scene of the crash. 

State police said there are no injuries in the accident. Troopers were on the scene and reminded motorists  to reduce speed and #MoveOverCT for first-responders to work.

There were also delays on southbound I-95 for over 3 miles between Exits 24 and 20 in the area of the crash, DOT said.
