Freezing Temps And Very Strong Winds To Hit Fairfield Today

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-20s Friday in Fairfield County, but strong wind gusts will create wind chill values in the teens, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will gust up to 45 mph following the passage of an arctic front, which could result in the downing of tree limbs or compromised trees, along with some isolated power outages. The rest of the day will still be breezy and sunny. The high will fall to around 27, but wind chill values will be between 15 and 25. 

Friday night will be clear, but even colder, with a low around 14. Wind chill values will be between 5 and 10. The wind will die down to around 9 to 13 mph.

It will be sunny for Veterans Day on Saturday, when the high will be near 37, but wind chill values will be between 5 and 15. The north wind will be between 5 and 9 mph. Saturday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 17.

Sunday will be a bit warmer, when the high will be near 45. It will be partly sunny during the day, with a calm wind increasing to 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. There is a 30 percent chance of rain on Sunday night after 10 p.m., possibly mixing with snow after 5 a.m. The low will be around 34.

Monday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.
