The National Weather Services Blizzard Warning will continue until 6 p.m. Monday, but forecasts predict the actual storm will taper off starting around noon, after a total accumulation of 12 to 18 inches. The NWS also predicts heavy winds throughout Sunday and Monday.
Heres what you need to know as you ride out the rest of the storm:
? Fairfields Department of Public Works already has plows on the major roads, but if you live on a quiet cul-de-sac you may be in for a rough morning drive. According to the DPW, major roads with steep inclines are given top priority, with other major routes coming next. Side streets and dead-end streets follow, but only if major roads do not need repeated plowing.
? If your mailbox is damaged during the storm, you might be eligible to have the town replace it. But Fairfields policy is only to replace mailboxes directly hit by plows, not those knocked over by the force of the snow. Check for paint marks and scratches on the box or pole.
? To ease the paths of the plows, the DPW asks residents to take a few precautions. First, if possible, park in driveways or garages. Cars on the side of the road prevent plows from making a completely clear path. Second, private plows and snow blowers should not push snow back into the street. Since all plows point in the same direction, passing plows will just push that snow back into driveways.

? Fairfield Public Schools are closed for Christmas break, but other town services were scheduled to reopen Monday morning. As of Sunday afternoon, no closures were announced. But check back in with TheDailyFairfield for more information.
