FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Fairfield County residents should prepare for a potentially slippery commute on Monday morning, after the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for southern Connecticut.

The advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday as another round of winter weather moves through the area overnight.

What should you expect? Light freezing rain and snow, including during the morning commute on Monday. It won't accumulate much — maybe a half-inch to an inch of snow — but it will cause slippery conditions on the roads, the National Weather Service said.

The precipitation will likely start as snow on Sunday night before transitioning to sleet and freezing rain late and into early Monday. A few tenths of an inch of snow and sleet are possible, especially from Connecticut and into the Lower Hudson Valley.

The periods of snow, sleet and/or freezing rain will cause travel problems. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and drivers are urged to use caution while driving.

The overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 20s, with light snow and sleet likely. The precipitation will continue overnight and into Monday morning. The day will be cloudy and the temperature will be about 40 degrees.

It will warm into the mid-40s under partly sunny skies on Tuesday.
