Heavy rain fell overnight and continued through much of the morning commute on Friday. But a storm system is expected to stay south of Connecticut and allow for clearing as the chance of rain goes from 70 percent to 20 percent as the day progresses.

A Flash Flood Watch has been dropped from the forecast with much less rain expected on Friday.

The forecast for Friday now calls for clearing skies, with highs near about 80 degrees with afternoon sunshine. But the humidity level remains high and will keep conditions uncomfortable. This is the end of a heat wave that has kept temperatures at or above 90 degrees for much of the past week.

Friday night will be partly cloudy, with a low in the mid-60s making for much better sleeping conditions.

On Saturday, there will be 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon under partly sunny skies, with a high near 84.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. It will be cloudy, with a high near 78 degrees.
