FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Wedding bells are in order for First Selectman Michael Tetreau, who has announced his engagement to Fairfield resident Giulia Nesi.
The couple met through an online dating service about eight months ago and plan a summer 2018 wedding, according to a written statement sent out Friday.
Tetreau, who took office in 2011 after a stint as interim first selectman, was surprised to learn he and his future bride live just one mile apart.
Nesi, who grew up in Pelham, N.Y., works full time in the spirituality and health field as a Christian Science practitioner, teacher and lecturer, according to the announcement. Prior to that she worked as a licensed psychotherapist in the public and private sector.
The pair felt an early connection and, after re-watching their favorite movie, “When Harry Met Sally,” Tetreau recently asked Nesi to a “sunrise event” on Sasco Beach.
After a romantic walk, Tetreau dropped to one knee and proposed and she said yes.
“A great start to our day and to the rest of our lives,” Tetreau said in the announcement.
