FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Museum will host two free programs for families on Moday, Jan. 16, as part of its Martin Luther King Day activities.

At 2 p.m. the Museum will show a movie that relates to its “Rising Tides, Fairfield’s Coast: Past to Future” exhibition. The film, Ocean Frontiers II: A New England Story for Sustaining the Sea, is a story of citizens working together for healthier economies and seas across New England. The movie will appeal to anyone who cares about sustainability and the future of the planet.

The “Family Focus” activity, sponsored by People’s United Bank, is called “Heroes Day” and runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can join Museum Education staff for a scavenger hunt in the “Creating Community” exhibition gallery to explore and discover people who have made a difference in Fairfield. In addition, children can paint a portrait of their own “hero” in the Museum’s education classroom. Children are encouraged to bring a photo or image of their hero to use for the art activity.

The Fairfield Museum is located at 370 Beach Road in Fairfield. For more information visit Fairfieldhistory.org or call 203-259-1598.
