Patrons at  Dairy Queens across the country can participate in the "Buy a Blizzard Treat" to benefit various programs. All of the proceeds from the Fairfield location will go to support Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, the children’s hospital that cares for many of Fairfield County’s most seriously ill and injured kids.

Fairfield Dairy Queen owner Nick Frattaroli has arranged for a fire truck and other fun activities for families to be on hand starting at about 1 p.m.

First Selectman Michael C. Tetreau will be joining in the festivities at the Fairfield Dairy Queen at that time and possibly help to serve ice cream.

In addition, the family of a Fairfield child who was cared for at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital after suffering a severe internal injury will be speaking about their experiences at the hospital.
