Fairfield Center Post Office Moving On Monday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – If you need to head to the post office in Fairfield Center starting next week, you’ll have to adjust your sights a few spots to the left. The Post Road’s post office is moving two doors down, to 1300 Post Road, starting Monday.

The federal government sold the post office’s former home at 1262 Post Road for $4.3 million earlier this year, according to town records. The U.S. Postal Service will instead take up a smaller space in a retail storefront between Jenny Boston Boutique and Olympia Foto Center.

The switch will occur this weekend. The old Post Office building will stay open its normal hours until Saturday afternoon, when it will close for good. The new, smaller space will first open its at 9 a.m. Monday.

All P.O. boxes from the old office will move to the new space, and will keep the same numbers. Box holders will need to acquire a new key to access the new box. Box holders also will be allowed to access their new P.O. boxes 24 hours a day after the changeover, a USPS spokesperson said.

“We are very pleased to move to our new facility,” Fairfield Postmaster Dennis Kassimis said in a press release, “and we look forward to providing continued excellent service to the customers we serve each and every day.”
