More than 130,000 Connecticut residents, including around 20,000 in Fairfield County, remain without power as the tri-state area continues to clean up from the latest winter storm that dropped upwards of a foot of snow in parts of Fairfield County.

Eversource is reporting that 133,484 of their 1,269,304 customers are reporting outages as of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, which is impacting 11 percent of residents, including more than 3,000 customers in New Canaan, more than one-third of the population in the town. There are also more than one hundred road closures due to downed trees and wires in Fairfield County, with New Canaan again especially hard hit.

In Wilton, trees or wires fell on nearly 100 roads, police said. More than 30 roads remain closed in Ridgefield. In Stamford, 27 roads remain closed.

Hundreds of out-of-state contractors have arrived since the storm to assist Eversource crews in recovery efforts over the past week, following a pair of powerful storm that has felled trees and left downed power lines throughout the tri-state area. Dozens of roads remain closed in the region as crews continue clean-up efforts.

Among the areas hardest hit include Norwalk, where 3,049 customers reported outages, Wilton (2,869 customers), Weston (2,648), Newtown (2,289) and Ridgefield (1,400).

No timetable has been provided for complete restoration, an Eversource spokesperson said on Thursday, as crews continue assessing damage. Officials said residents should avoid downed power lines and any outages can be reported to Eversource by calling 800-286-2000.
