A man was arrested Saturday after police found a 2-year old child, that he was supposed to be watching, wandering along a busy roadway, according to Cromwell Police.
Police responded to a 911 call of a 2-year old wandering in the roadway of Berlin Round by the intersection of Kirby Road. The child was located unharmed and removed from the road by a passerby, police said.
Following an investigation, police arrested George Downer, 56, of 10 Kirby Road, Cromwell, who was supposed to be watching the child when they wandered away.
Downer was charged with risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment. He was released on $15,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
The child was returned safely to family members.
