According to the indictment that was Huertas, 36, escaped custody at the Chase Center in Waterbury on June 22, where he had been to complete his term of incarceration following a 2015 conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm.
If he is found guilty of his attempted escape, Huertas faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He’s currently being detained and is due in court at a later date to answer the charge.
