Trautman died over the weekend after he was ejected from a boat that hit a breakwall in the New Haven Harbor area.

Raised in Clinton and Madison, Trautman graduated from Daniel Hand High School in 1990 and the University of Tampa in 1994. He resided in Minneapolis and Westport before settling in Fairfield 12 years ago with his family.
Trautman was a director and regional vice president for Provell Inc., vice president of business development for Williams Lea, and senior account executive and director for Gartner before becoming the regional director for Russell Investments (now the London Stock Exchange).
He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially when it involved golfing, boating, skiing, or music. He was a member of both Patterson Country Club in Fairfield and Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charlestown, R.I. He enjoyed concerts, taking in shows at the Fairfield Theater Company.
He is survived by his wife, Danika Kettledon Howey Trautman; his children, Courtney, 13, William, 11, and Samuel, 9; his parents, Diane Johnson and her husband Ed, of Naples, Fla., and Richard Trautman and his wife Dale, of Clinton; his sister, Tiffany Mahoney and her husband Jack, of Fairfield; Danika's parents, Greg and Barbara Howey, of North Branford; his brothers-in-law, Jason Howey and his wife Terese, and Jonathan Howey, all of Madison; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and business colleagues.
Michael Murphy, 53, of Fairfield, who owned and was operating the boat, also died in the accident, according to the Environmental Conservation Police.
Murphy’s 32-foot 2017 Sea Fox power boat was heading south in New Haven Harbor on Saturday evening when it struck the north side of the west breakwall. Both Murphy and Trautman were ejected from the vessel and suffered fatal injuries.
Funeral services for Murphy have not been announced.
