William Reyes, also known as “Big Head,” made his plea before U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana.
According to court documents and statements made in court, in the summer of 2017, Reyes and John Koukouras used a residence at 40 Guernsey Hill Road in Lagrangeville, N.Y., to grow, process and distribute marijuana.
The investigation determined that Reyes was also being supplied by an individual in New York City with large quantities of marijuana. On July 21, 2017, the marijuana supplier delivered about 40 pounds of marijuana to Reyes in exchange for $80,000.
Reyes was arrested on July 26, 2017. That day, investigators conducted court-authorized searches of Reyes’ Stamford residence and the Lagrangeville residence. In Stamford, they found 18 kilograms of marijuana, paraphernalia associated with narcotics distribution, and $71,004 in cash. The search in the Lagrangeville residence turned up 140 marijuana plants and related equipment.
When sentenced March 30, Reyes faces a maximum of five years in prison. He also has agreed to forfeit the $71,004 in cash seized from his residence, and a 2012 Toyota Camry.
Reyes has been detained since his arrest.
Koukouras, of Eugene, Ore., pleaded guilty to the same charge on Nov. 15 and awaits sentencing.
