Town Of Fairfield Wins Power Of Change Award

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield was awarded the Power of Change Overall Excellence Award by the Power of Change award committee for the town's effort to conserve energy.

The Power of Change Award committee presented Fairfield with a trophy, certificate and a banner displayed on the Sherman Green.

According to The United Illuminating Company, Fairfield reduced electric usage by 22 percent over the last 15 years. The total bill for all heating fuel is less now than it was in 1996, and Fairfield also reduced fuel oil consumption by 86 percent, down from 212,000 to 29,000 gallons.

The Power of Change organization recognizes and promotes energy efficiency efforts and supports the existing ecosystem of clean energy in Connecticut. The Power of Change Award was created to honor the best achievements and innovations in energy efficiency.
