Woman Charged With Taking Golf Clubs in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport woman was charged with stealing $3,000 worth of golf clubs from two Fairfield homes earlier this month. Viviana Nieves, 25, is accused of taking the three sets of clubs while they were left unattended outside their owner’s houses.

A Matilda Place resident told police a set of clubs worth $500 was left in the home's back yard on the afternoon of April 8. The clubs had gone missing later that day. Two sets of clubs were then reported stolen from the garage at a  Round Hill Road house on April 12. The suspect appeared to enter the garage through a broken window. The combined value of those two sets was estimated at $2,500.

Fairfield Police tracked one set of stolen clubs to a pawn shop in Milford. The shop owner told police that Nieves had sold them to him, as well as two other sets that had since left the store, police say. Nieves was seen on the store’s security cameras with the clubs, according to police reports.

After getting an arrest warrant, police took Nieves into custody at her Bridgeport home Wednesday. She was charged with fifth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court.
