FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Fairfield woman was arrested after she ran her car into a tree and left the scene early Sunday, police said.

A Sherwood Drive man awoke at about 2:30 a.m. to a loud crash, police said. He called police at 7:30 a.m. when he went out to find a black SUV had been smashed into his tree, police said.

Officers located the driver, whom they believe to be Kate Salko, 29, of Hulls Farm Road, police said. She was charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive right, police said.

Her bond was not available Monday morning. She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19, police said.
